Balloon Sinus Dilation / Balloon Sinuplasty / Minimally Invasive Sinus Treatments

Sometimes it can be appropriate to treat your sinus disease using less invasive methods than traditional sinus surgical techniques.

With the advent of modern balloon technology, an appropriately trained surgeon can open up the sinus drainage pathways with less pain, scarring and bleeding, resulting in quicker healing and shorter time to recovery. Also this surgery can be done under general anaesthetic as a day-case procedure with patients often able to return to work within 48 hours.

It is especially useful for those patients in whom flying can be uncomfortable due to the pressure changes within the sinuses or their ears.

It is not appropriate for all forms of sinus disease, however.

Mr Hettige has recently written a review chapter on these modern techniques and their indications, and been fully trained in their applications.

Please do ask your surgeon about this modern technique and we can explore whether it is right for you.
